From February 29th to March 2nd, 2024, one of the most significant scientific events in Europe dedicated to innovative methods of diagnosing and treating corneal disorders – CORNEA 2024 – took place in Katowice.
During the inaugural session on February 29th, 2024, Professor Dariusz Dobrowolski delivered a lecture entitled: “Bio-printing method as a potential innovative approach to obtain a fibrin scaffold for corneal regeneration.”
The presentation summarizes the results of our project “Biodegradable dressing for corneal reconstruction with limbal stem cells, prepared within the framework of autologous transplantation using bio-printing and 3D printing”, carried out jointly by Acellmed – bio-tech innovations for health improvement and quality of life as a leader, Silesian Park of Medical Technology Kardio-Med Silesia in collaboration with researchers and clinicians from the University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wrocław and the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice.
Very good results obtained in preclinical studies in a large animal model strongly motivate us to further develop our dressing and commence preparations for further research phases.
